The complete C64 music collection Jens-Christian Huus

Editor worktunes in NewPlayer v17.G1, 1989-1990.

This is a compilation of the unpacked worktunes I did in player v17.G1. This
player was a good compromise between a hitech player and a low rastertime. It
took $14 scanlines, which was rather good on the Commodore 64 - compared to
the actual quality of the sounds in the player. One of the drawbacks was that
hard restart was "hardwired" into the player at all times and could not be
turned off. This made the player sound slightly "blunted".

AGES.DAT Ages

Very nice harmonic scale tune. SidPlay v1.22 (which I used to
test all the tunes) manages to emphasize the bass instrument
so the chords almost drowns. Try turning off voice 1 to hear
the juicy part of the song. It was one of the first tunes I
entirely made on the keyboard before bonging it into the
editor. Normally, most music was composed directly on the
computer without the aid of a synthesizer keyboard.

BONZAI_3.DAT Bonzai #3

After trying to make the SID-chip say "Triangle" I tried to
make it say "Bonzai". Not my most successful speech emulation
                to date.

DANDELIO.DAT Dandelion

This was a tune I thought up on the job (I'm a mailman). As
soon as I came home I ran to my computer and typed it in.

DOGSHIT.DAT Dogshit

NONSENSE.DAT Nonsense

I remember I was very disappointed with this tune - I wanted
it to be big and bombastic, but I couldn't make it "big"
enough. I wanted billions of voices and better instruments.
Especially those cymbal crashes bugged me.

ONEVOICE.DAT One Voice

                Simpel "idea" tune.

TIMETUNE.DAT Time Tune

Very slow music where I tried to put some feeling into it.
Notice the strange experiments with puls from 01:12.

TJORDS.DAT Tjords...

VOICE1-3.DAT Voice 1-3 (of 6)

During my time of composing music I managed to own a C64 and
a C128 at the same time. Naturally I just had to try the old
experiment where both computers are playing, echo detuning
the music. This gave me the idea of composing three voices
on each computer to make 6 voices of C64 music. This is the
                bass and drums part.

VOICE4-6.DAT Voice 4-6 (of 6)

This is the chords part of the 6-voice experiment.

W_S_F_G.DAT Who Said Fred Grey?

Very funny tune where I tried to emulate the weird "pulsating"
Fred Grey used to have in his tunes where the puls was changed
for each note but not during the note. As to whether I managed
to match his style or not - well, judge for yourself! :)

XMAS_ZAK.DAT X-Mas Zak

                Very sweet polyphonic melody.
