 1. what is Simple'97?

Simple is the name if the first demoscene contest ever made in Continental
Portugal. The name was chosen due to its easy translation to Portuguese. It
transmits the spirit of the first event of this type in here. If it succeeds,
this name will be used in further editions of the contest, which should be
  held on an yearly basis.

We can't define this contest as a demoparty since as of this writing, no
guarantees were given about a partyplace, computers and specific hardware,
along with the sound equipment and the big screens. The only thing that's
*not* missing is the will to make Portugal a non-anonymous country.

Thank you for reading this invitation until now. Next is the explanation of
  the contest.

 2. the demoscene

For those who don't yet know what the demoscene is, let's just say that it's
one of the best so-called underground worlds of computers. It has long rised
the computers' capabilities by demos breaking the barriers of high-end sound,
mathematical graphics and art as a whole. Just to exemplify, the techniques
now seen in famous games such as Doom, Quake and Tomb Raider were all scene
  people's sons.

We could define the demoscene as the blend of modern art with the age of
  techno.

If you own or represent a company which you'd like to see connected to this
type of event, please get in touch with us using the contact info at the end
  of the file.

 3. the contest

This contest won't give out any prizes unless some sponsor which will do so
appears. Thus, no payment of any kind is obligatory to the contestants in
any areas of the contest. This will be a healthy competition without profit
  objectives.

There aren't any sponsors until now, much to the grief of all demoscene
lovers here who follow other meetings in other countries. As it was referred
above, the organizing group has no profitable sources, so it's impossible to
arrange a physical event of this kind. None of the organizers has economic
power to support the renting of a partyplace nor the renting of the computer
  and sound equipment.

 4. the categories and rules

The contest is divided into 6 different areas:
