        Welcome to the official MOVEMENT'97 invitation text. Please read
        it carefully as there are some major changes since last year as
        well as some new precedures and compos to the Israeli scene.

        This text might not be final. If we'll see fit to update the text
        presented here, you will be notifyed on our official sites. The
        most accessable is the official BBS, CODERS F/X (+972-7-6753224).
        Also, information can be obtained from our Internet site once it
        will be available.

                           ==  WHERE AND WHEN?  ==

      MOVEMENT'97 will be held in Ashkelon's exibitions hall "Beit Ha'Am"
      (The Folk House). The hall is located in one of the city's centers,
      called AFRIDAR Center. Any of the natives will be able to direct you
      to the place. :)

      The party will start at 12:00am on the 29th of December (Monday) and
      will end at 12:00am at the morning of December 31th (Wednesday). All
      of those days are ofcourse HANNUKA holyday.

      The party place is very easy to find. You can either walk yourself,
      get a bus or a taxi (always available from the central bus station).

       Ŀ
                  === HOW TO GET TO THE PARTYPLACE ===

       Coming by BUS...
       Should be the easiest. Just take a bus going to Ashkelon (line 300
       or 311 from Tel Aviv, every 20 minutes) and enjoy your ride. Once
       you'll arrive to Ashkelon central bus station you can either take
       another bus (lines 4 or 5) and get down at Afridar center. Another
       way is to take a taxi (better, if you carry equipment). Taxis can
       found across the street of the central station and should be quite
       cheap since its a 5 min. ride.

       Coming by CAR...
       This is the most comfortable way, thou you should know your way...
       We'll leave you the part of getting to Ashkelon, which is pritty
       easy anyway. Once you've reached Ashkelon junction, drive into the
       city n' keep going stright ahead. Count 4 junctions with traffic
       lights (the forth is near a fountain) and on the 5th you'll see a
       big pink-glass buliding on the right. Turn to the right on that
       junction and just keep driving stright ahead. You'll pass a square
       beside the police station - just keep going with the road, do not
       take ANY turn till you'll reach a medium-sized grass on your right
       and banks on your left. Find a parking place - This is the AFRIDAR
       center. Ask someone which building is Beit-ha'am, or just look for
       our signs :)

       Coming by BOAT/YACHT...
       Ashkelon has one of the biggest marina's in israel, which offers
       regular docking facilities and services. Please, do contact the
       organizing team for exact information.

                           ===  GENERAL RULES ===

        The organizers reserve the right to make any changes they wish in
        the competition rules, and to disqualify any entry if it is not
        suitable to attend the competitions for some reason.

        Some notes to keep in mind:

        1. Atleast one of the groups competiting has to be present at the
        party place and in the case of a solo competition the competitor
        has to be present (4k, Music, Graphics, Ansi & Animation). Only
        in the Web Site & Java Demo compos competitor may be absent.

        2. In the music & graphics competitions, we will not show the
        author's name while we present the product in the competition.

        3. The demos/intros will have to run without ANY user interaction
	once started (although there can be a setup screen).

        4. All demos, intros, pictures, songs and ansi will be spread at
        and after the party by the organizers. Note that animations and
        wild compo entries will not be spreaded.

        5. The productions MUST NOT save any files (except configuration
        files) on the hard disk or the disk.

        6. Floppy disks that contain the product will NOT be returned.
           The same goes to the VIDEO tapes for the wild compo.

        7. We recommand you'll hand over the compo release to us before
        the deadline. That way we can make sure you're production runs
        as it should on our system.

        8. NO ONE is allowed to vote for himself, a production he took
        part in or a production done by his group.

        9. A jury composed of known scene people (maybe even you) will be
        assmbled for several compos. The jury's vote will be equal to 20%
        of the total votings for that compo (audience = 80%). Sceners
        that will compete won't be in the jury of that specific compo.
! This does NOT apply for music compos. Read 'JURY' section please.

        10. In the graphics, music, raytracing, animation and 4kb intro
        competitions we will show the name of the song/picture, but only
        if it will not give hints on who has made it.

        11. "Maximum running length" below is only the amount of time we
        will show a particular piece of art on the big screen.

        12. The filenames of the productions have to comply with the ISO-
        9660 standard. This means that the only characters allowed in
        filenames are "A-Z" and "0-9". The maximum length of the filename
        is 8+3 characters as in MS DOS standard. (No win95 long-names!)

! The authors must have all copyrights on their production.

        If you have any questions about the rules, please contact MOV'97
        Organizing.

        Ŀ
                             ===  DISCLAIMER  ===

        The organizers don't take any responsibility on the safety of the
        equipment people bring to the party place. We suggest you take an

        service which will be available at the party place. We also take

        Ŀ
                         ===  THE VOTING SYSTEM  ===

         Under the sponsership of <Borland Int.>, we are developing a new
         and advanced system using Borland's IntraBuilder(tm). This means
         all the signing in, voting and submitting procedures are done on
         the party Intranet using a regular Web Browser! This also means
         you can actually do all of these on YOUR computer, once you'll
         get on the party network. The system was developed by Goodbyte,
! advisory by Ice. Note that development had not finished yet, so
! we might use the new version of VoteSys, Movement'96 graphical
! voting system. Network and intranet capabilities will be anyway.

        Ŀ
                             ===  THE JURY  ===

        Any jury will be composed of atleast 1 organizer or co-organizer,
        and additional 4 sceners which will not be competing in the compo
        related. In every compo, execpt the music compo, the jury will be
        considered as 20% of the total vote, while the audience will be
        80%. In the music compo there will NOT be any pre-finals compo
        like in the last 2 parties, but instead a pre-selected jury will
        choose the top 15 modules to be on the compo. Jury in the music
        compo gets 40% vote, while audience gets 60%.

        Any further questions please direct to Turk182 on his email.

                          ===  COMPO MASHINE  ===

        Ŀ
                          ===  GENERAL RULES  ===

        One must be able to exit from PC-demos and intros at any time by
        pressing <ESC>.

        In PC 64kb intro competition two versions of the intro can be
        submitted. The competing version which is under 65536 bytes long
        and supports either GUS or SB and the release version which
        supports both. Release version can be over 65536 bytes long.
        Competing 64kb intro cannot be in any case longer than 65536
        bytes. Both release and competition version has to be submitted
        to the organizers before the deadline.

         The main reason why SVGA modes with higher resolution than
        640 x 480 aren't allowed is because the maximum resolution
        supported by the video/data projectors we have is 640 x 480. And
        even if the projectors could show higher resolutions, the picture
        quality of different high resolution graphics modes would not
        look that much different from one another (a video projector is
        NOT the same as a monitor).

	You should note that the picture produced by a video projector is
        not as good as a monitor picture. The video projector does not
        show pale colors well and in some cases can even lose them
        completely. Also the contrast can be different. These are common
        problems with all video projectors and simply can't be corrected.
        Please try to understand these restrictions.

! Note that you can now enter more than one 4kb / 64kb intro to the
! competitions, if you so desire.

        Special Surprize Compos ************************************

        We will have some new compos and events during the party, so
        be ready for alot of fun! Among other things we'll have a
        fast-intro, fast-music and some outdoors compos like disk-
        throwing compo, ect.

                              ===  PRIZES  ===

         At the moment of releasing this info file we cannot announce all
         prizes available. Basicly, the more people showing up - the more
         prizes we'll have.

         All damages to the Party Place, other surroundings and other
         damages caused by party visitors will be REDUCED from the prizes
         before any prizes are paid. Thou, we trust damages will be low,
         as Mov'96 had only 500 NIS damages, compering to Mov'95 that had
         *2000 NIS* out on damages. We hope to get to NO DAMAGES AT ALL
         at this party - its all up to you!

         The actual prizes may be software, hardware or pure cash. This
         depends on our sponsors. As we cannot commit at this time to any
         of the prizes, an exact list will be published at the partyplace.

        Ŀ
                         ===  PARTY FEATURES  ===

        Next is a list of most important features at our party:

                              * Audio and Video *

        Audio system will be set by a proffesional soundman we hired.
        The system will support stereo output throughout the hall. We
        hope there won't be any complains this year too.

        The big screen in the hall is over 2 meters wide and supports
        640x480 resolution. The whole place is a closed, cousy n' nice
        hall where all of you will sit togather by your computers and
        watch the big screen at the same time.

                                * Party Place *

        This year we'll have all major events in one big hall. This
        means we'll be all sitting togather, working, having fun AND
        watching the big screens and the compos from our own seats!
        This also means you'll have to behave - no laud music during
        the compos. There is a saperated sleeping hall so bring your
        sleeping bags and all the stuff you need. There is also a
        showering option available so bring cloths and whatever more
        you need. In any problem you can always go to the info-desk
        and ask. We'll have organizers and co-organizers available
! everywhere during the whole event. We will have somewhat
! different setting for the sleeping facilities resulting from
! the place we were given this year. The sleeping hall will be
! realy quite and airconditioned and will be located several
! minutes walking from the main hall, in a different complex,
! also secured by one of our security personnel. Thou, for
! people that will only want to have some quiet rest _without_
! leaving the main hall, we got another room at the party
! place. As you can see, we're doing our best to make sure you
! will enjoy the party. Help us to keep it fluent and clean.

                                   * Food *

        As the party place is set in one of the town centers, you have
        everything you need less then 2 minutes walk!! You have a pizza
        place just outside the hall and also some banks, supermarket,
        bus station n' even the turist information center! :)

                             * Toilet & Showers *

        There are toilets on the party place both for males and females
        and we have a cleaning service once a day to make sure they are
        clean and available for your use. Thou, we ask you to be clean
        yourself and not to do a mess. There will be showers available
        not far from the partyplace. We'll make sure you'll be able to
        shower atleast once a day, so bring your cloths and soap with
        you. We are doing our best to arrange a shower in the sleeping
        hall complex, but we can't promiss it.

                                  * Parking *

        There is alot of parking place all around the hall and the
        center, thou remember it IS a center and thus crowded. Note,
        this is a place with police, looking for cars parking against
        the law...

                          * Party network information *

        There is going to be a Party Network (LAN) going up around the
! first afternoon of the party. We're probably gonna run it on
! NetWare(tm) or NT(tm), according to the voting system support.

        WHAT DO I NEED TO GET CONNECTED TO THE LAN?

        - one network card. Make sure it ha`s BNC coupling in it. RJ-45
          or AUI are not supported at all.
        - one T-connector
        - piece of cable (thinnet, 50 ohm, BNC coupling, 2-3 meters)

        There might be some cards/connectors available at the net-crew
        to be sold but don't count on that. Most propably there is some
        cable available to party visitor use, but again, don't count too
        much on that either.

        If you don't know what a T-connector or a network card is, don't
        bother with the whole network ;) If however you have questions
        about the network just email to ICE and ask. (emails list at the
        end of this file)

                                 * Intra-Net *

          We'll have a Local Area Network (LAN) running the Movement97
          Intra-net. This means that anyone on the LAN will be able to
          Sign-in, Vote on compos and submit his products from his own
          computer!! He will also be able to visit the EZINE and surf
          the internet! Also, you'll be able to take advantage of the
          LAN to play some network GAMES with your friends!

                                  * Internet *

          Thanks to Ashkelon Municipality and Ort, we'll have a strong
          enough line to the internet. Anyone with a network card and
          a computer will be able to surf the internet free of charge
          for the whole party duration!

                           * EZINE & Internet Radio *

          Two new features we belive none of you have ever experianced
          in a demo party!

          EZINE means an electronic magazine. We will have reporters
          going around the hall n' doing short cover stories about you
          and your group. Maybe even with real pictures! All the
          articles and stories will be posted during the party on the
          official web site and will stay there until next year, so
          what you actually get is a free cover on the net for the a
          whole year! :)

          We'll also be having a NET-Radio, broadcasting live from the
          party on the internet. It will broadcast music, interviews
          with sceners and all kind of neat stuff. Sponsers will also
          get their share on the 'air'.

                                  * Party CD *

          This year, with the help of Ashkelon municipality, we are
          going to produce a party CD. For this matter, you'll have
          to sign an agreement allowing us to put the products on
          the CD. This CD may merge with the CD planed by CFX Team,
          to a whole, covering, CD. We hope to offer it within two
          months in a very low price n' a very nice design package.

                           * Party CD-Write Service *

         Thou failing last year, as the guy with the CDWriter did not
         arrive, this year we WILL have a CD Burning service. It will
         be operated by the head of mov'97 net-crew - Ice / CFX Team.
         You may burn your own harddisk or other non-commercial work.
         However, this service will cost, as you have to buy an empty
         CD and pay for the burning. The prices will be low, thou.

                           * Party Color Scanner *

         We MIGHT (its not for sure, yet) be offering you also a color
         -scanning service. Bring your pictures anyway.

                             * Party Shirts *

        As we produce an official shirt for the organizing team, we
        hope we'll be able to afford some limited number of party
        shirts to be sold to the attenders. We cannot garentee it,
        thou, and we cannot garentee a low price.

                             * Party Releases *

        Groups that will want to fix thier products before final release
        may do so until the 30th of December (2nd day) after notifying
        the organizers. ALL the releases will be marked as PARTY VERSION
        and will be posted to MOV'97 outposts. If any of the groups or
        competitors wish to release a final version anytime after the
        party, they are welcome doing so on their own.

                             * Party Outposts *

        ftp.cdrom.com had open a special directory for MOV97 releases.

        CODERS F/X BBS - Mov97 official board - will have all of the
        products as soon as the party will be over. You may reach it
!       at 07-6753224 or 07-6758537 (prefix +972 n' drop the 0 if you
! are calling from anywhere but israel). Email requests are
!       available from civax@beit-eli.gov.il, too.

                                 ** Web Site **

        The Ezine crew is constructing and updating the official MOVEMENT
        demo party web site. We will notify you the minute it will be
        available on the net.
