|_|   Welcome to the first issue of THE N64 EZINE. My GBEZINE (gbc) was so  |_|
|_|   well received last month that I decided to try my hand at an N64      |_|

|_|    WWF returns to the N64 with attitude and a bigger cart, Acclaim has  |_|
|_|    refined WWF Warzone and come up with this near masterpiece. This is  |_|
|_|    the thinking mans wrestling game whereas WCW Revenge is more arcade  |_|
|_|    like in its playability. Creating your own players is one of this    |_|
|_|    games big selling points, and I have to admit its a cool feature.    |_|
|_|    Wrestling games are always a laugh, especially with ones friends     |_|
|_|    so this game is an essential download. (7/10)                        |_|

|_|    Duke returns to the N64 in style after a slightly disappointing fist |_|
|_|    title with this N64 only third person shoot-em-up. This title has    |_|
|_|    been given a lot of hype in the last 6 months and I can say right    |_|
|_|    now that it doesn't disappoint. The graphics aren't all that amazing |_|
|_|    but the playability is something special and that counts more, this  |_|
|_|    really is a good game and one that it exclusively for N64 owners!    |_|

|_|    torture yourself by playing an NFL game then I point you in the      |_|
|_|    general of NFL Blitz, its better than this, although that's not      |_|
|_|    saying a lot. (4/10)                                                 |_|

|_|    The N64 gets it first ever Football Management sim in this UK only   |_|
|_|    game by Gremlin Interactive. Once you get into this game it is       |_|
|_|    truly addictive, true Footy fans will not be able to stop playing    |_|
|_|    this game and to be honest Id rather have this game than a million   |_|
|_|    NFL games. NFL sucks to be honest. Anyway, this is a nice relaxing   |_|
|_|    game that you can enjoy when stoned or tired, only if you are stoned |_|
|_|    just make sure you don't do anything stupid like buy a Celtic        |_|
|_|    player ;)                                                            |_|
|_|    I hope some off you enjoy playing this, my first release into the    |_|
|_|    scene, I'm sure that not everyone would describe this as UK CRAP     |_|

|_|    This game is unlike anything that you have ever seen on the N64      |_|
|_|    before. Here is why, 1. Its actually a very good game ;) , 2. It is  |_|
|_|    a very dark game that has been developed for a mature audience , 3.  |_|
|_|    There are some really cool intros and cut-scenes and they all have   |_|
|_|    speech, yes, SPEECH :) , This game is game-of-the-month by a mile.   |_|
|_|    NBC had originally released this game first, but after a few hours   |_|
|_|    many of us had suspicions that they had released a bad dump, this    |_|
|_|    confirmed when TC released their rom which *Actually Works* :)       |_|
|_|    A tip for NBC: DO NOT use a v64Jr to backup games !!!!! , but we     |_|
|_|    certainly appreciate you trying to release the game :) (9/10)        |_|

|_|    Radio control car game. The first time I played this game I didn't   |_|
|_|    like it too much, I thought that the graphics were poor and that     |_|
|_|    controls sucked. However, I am finding that the more I play this     |_|
|_|    game, the more I like it. If you have the 4MB expansion pack you     |_|
|_|    can choose to up the resolution to Medium, I would advise against    |_|
|_|    this however as the frame rate takes a big hit and the graphics      |_|
|_|    look kind of strange. So if you tried this game out when it was      |_|
|_|    released and you didn't like I would strongly suggest that you go    |_|
|_|    back and play it again and remember not to use that awful medium     |_|
|_|    resolution mode. (6/10)                                              |_|

|_|    Well I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of "American"        |_|
|_|    Football, or any of the related games. I played this game a few      |_|
|_|    times before deciding that I will more than likely never play it     |_|
|_|    again, I just don't like it. Basically, this game is the usual NFL   |_|
|_|    affair but with more violence. There seems to be a lot of people     |_|
|_|    who think this game is great, so I took that into account when       |_|
|_|    giving the game a score out of 10. (5/10)                            |_|

|_|    Here is the multi language PAL version of the first C&C game in 3D.  |_|
|_|    The important thing to remember with this game is that it uses the   |_|
|_|    new save memory that has been appearing in Nintendo published /      |_|
|_|    developed games, meaning at this moment in time you will not be      |_|
|_|    able to save your game. The game itself is very good, and            |_|
|_|    surprisingly the games transition to 3D works. Personally I haven't  |_|
|_|    invested a lot of time in this game because I got fed up with        |_|
|_|    having to replay the first missions because I wasn't able to save my |_|
|_|    game after completing them the first time around. One point,         |_|
|_|    Dextrose have Westwood down as the publisher in their games section. |_|
|_|    Westwood developed the game but it was published by the big N.       |_|

|_|    have spoken to think this game is great, but to be honest I am not   |_|
|_|    convinced, as far as I'm concerned this is a bad game, but who       |_|
|_|    knows, maybe I'll change my mind after playing the English version.  |_|

|_|    chance to play it, so there isn't a lot I can say about this game.   |_|
|_|    It seems that its an RPG turn based game which was given a very      |_|
|_|    high score by the much respected Japanese journal Famitsu. An        |_|
|_|    English version is planned for early 2000, lets just hope Bung       |_|
|_|    release the V64jr-2 sooner rather than later. (?/10)                 |_|

|_|    last year making improvements, because they simply haven't. This     |_|
|_|    game was finished long ago but it was decided by the publisher to    |_|
|_|    hold the game back until after the release of Zelda, in the false    |_|
|_|    hope that people will finish Zelda and then look to purchase a       |_|
|_|    similar title, the only problem here is that Zelda is L33T and this  |_|
|_|    game is dog dirt. (2/10)                                             |_|

|_|    bit too painful and the commentary is bland. This game will be       |_|
|_|    Released in November in the USA and Europe under the names Major     |_|
|_|    League Soccer 99 and ISS 99, lets hope for some vast changes. I      |_|
|_|    cant believe that Konami have spent more than a year working on      |_|
|_|    this so called "sequel" to one of the N64's finest moments. (5/10)   |_|

|_|  In a recent news item on dextrose it was alleged by Badface of F0i     |_|
|_|  (Freedom 0f Information) that Titanik, who is known as the best        |_|
|_|  cracker in the n64 scene, is responsible for distributing a virus      |_|
|_|  through his cracks / patches.                                          |_|
|_|  This virus is claimed to affect the computers of people who use F0i's  |_|
|_|  Intro-Liberator program to see how Titaniks cracks work. It seems as   |_|
|_|  if Titanik done this to stop people *stealing* his intellectual        |_|
|_|  property by using Intro Liberator to assist them in reverse            |_|
|_|  engineering.                                                           |_|
|_|                                                                         |_|
|_|  Here is a quote from Badface "yes - he is the best cracker in the      |_|
|_|  scene, but if you really understand or even support his move then you  |_|
|_|  must be an idiot"                                                      |_|

|_|  Well, I guess that make me an idiot then :P . I'm not saying that I    |_|
|_|  support his move but I definitely understand it, he has invested a lot |_|
|_|  of time into coding routines etc. to get past Nintendo's copy          |_|
|_|  protection and all, so I guess he doesn't really want anyone else to   |_|
|_|  see how his cracks work then use this information to assist them in    |_|
|_|  cracking future games.  I do however think that he should have put a   |_|
|_|  warning out to people so that they at least know that their PC will    |_|
|_|  get a virus if they use Intro-Liberator on his latest work.            |_|

|_|  I am writing this only minutes after this news has appeared, and I can |_|
|_|  easily predict that Titaniks reputation will be hit badly by this      |_|
|_|  revelation. As far as I'm concerned though, he hasn't really done      |_|
|_|  anything bad, in fact if I were in his situation I would have more     |_|
|_|  than likely done the same, albeit with a warning to people. One thing, |_|
|_|  I would advise you not to send Titanik or and / or CZN abuse via       |_|
|_|  email / Irc or you may just find that you wont be playing all of       |_|
|_|  Rare's big release games this Christmas ;) . The scene *needs* Titanik |_|
|_|  & Wildfire & Destop etc., I'm sure you can accept this even if you     |_|
|_|  100% disapprove of Titanik's methods of protecting his work.           |_|

|_|  It has become clear that Nintendo has implemented a new type of save   |_|
|_|  memory in a few of the games that they have either developed or        |_|
|_|  published (Pokemon Snap, Ken Griffy JR, Command & Conquer). This new   |_|
|_|  save ram is known as FLASH RAM and differs to SRAM and EEPROM in that  |_|
|_|  it is much bigger an faster to read/write to. The FLASH RAM on a cart  |_|
|_|  amounts to 256KBytes whereas SRAM is 32KBytes.                         |_|
|_|  The problem that this new save ram creates, is that you currently      |_|
|_|  can't save your game when using the rom image of any of the games      |_|
|_|  which use it. Even using a cart which has FLASH RAM as a boot cart     |_|
|_|  (say, Premier Manager 64) you cannot save in another game which uses   |_|
|_|  FLASH RAM such as Pokemon Snap. In fact even if you play the rom image |_|
|_|  of Premier Manager 64 whilst using Premier Manager 64 as a boot cart   |_|
|_|  you cannot save your game, meaning that there is some sort of          |_|
|_|  protection involved ;( , I'm sure its only a matter of time before one |_|
|_|  of the scenes crackers can sort this.                                  |_|

|_|  Redbox released this gem of a game to the scene in 1998. I am a big    |_|
|_|  fan of this classic game and I remember Redbox's N64 version coming as |_|
|_|  a very pleasant surprise to me, I was instantly addicted.              |_|
|_|  Nearly everyone that I have spoken to has not tried or download this   |_|
|_|  game, even though Dextrose has logged that it has had more than 700    |_|
|_|  downoads.                                                              |_|

|_|  Redbox had originally planned to release this as "Willy Allstars" (this|_|
|_|  game and the two other Minor Willy games) but he ended up just         |_|
|_|  releasing the first game, stating in his nfo that he would finish off  |_|
|_|  the series later, if he could be bothered. Well I recently asked       |_|
|_|  Redbox about his plans and he told be that the chances of him          |_|
|_|  finishing of the completion are quote "non existent" , partly for the  |_|
|_|  reason that he thinks Manic Minor 64 wasn't all that well received.    |_|

|_|  If you haven't played this game yet then I would strongly advise that  |_|
|_|  you download it from Dextrose, and if you like it then a friendly word |_|
|_|  in Redbox's direction may make him reconsider finishing off the        |_|

|_|  Every now and again I tend to go through my N64 roms and play some of  |_|
|_|  the old classics. One special game has just kept me coming back for    |_|
|_|  more since its release near the end of last year, and that game is     |_|
|_|  Space Station Silicon Valley by the elite Scottish developers DMA.     |_|
|_|  A 3D Platform / Run & Jump game that ranks up there with the best.     |_|

|_|  more than 5 minutes or haven't even played it at all, It wasn't        |_|
|_|  hyped up in the least, which is why I got such a shock when I played   |_|
|_|  it. After an hour I just thought "This game is ingenious" , not only   |_|
|_|  are the graphics and controls technically superb and incredible refined|_|
|_|  but you can see a lot of thought has gone into the levels and how the  |_|

|_|  You take on the role of EVO, a walking robotic microchip who has the   |_|
|_|  ability to possess the bodies of dead robotic animals. You use these   |_|
|_|  animals to help you achieve the mission objectives for the current     |_|
|_|  level. And every level is unique and different. It is really very hard |_|
|_|  to explain this game, its so Bonkers, Crazy and Wacky to an extent     |_|
|_|  that it makes it impossible to describe the experience of playing it.  |_|

|_|  Anyways, I think this game is L33T and deserves to be played so get    |_|
|_|  loading that rom right now !! And if you happen to not have the rom    |_|

|_|  at not only how good the game played but also by the smooth and        |_|
|_|  extremely polished graphics. I can also tell you that this is a game   |_|
|_|  with variety, except to be snowboarding, flying and all sorts of       |_|
|_|  crazy shit during the game. Ubisoft have a real winner on their hands  |_|
|_|  with this game, and I'm sure it will rank up with some of the N64's    |_|

|_|  Road Rash was one of my favourite games back in the days of the Mega   |_|
|_|  / Genesis. For those who don't know, its a motorcycle racing game in   |_|
|_|  which to win a race it is all but essential to hack, kick, punch and   |_|
|_|  generally beat the fucking shit out of ones opponents with all manner  |_|
|_|  of weapons. A 64Bit conversion of this game could be really good and   |_|
|_|  from what I've seen of the screenshots it looks not to disappoint.     |_|
|_|  Lets just hope the developers don't take this classic game and forever |_|
|_|  tarnish its reputation with some shitty lame conversion. Expected      |_|
