Nintendo DS game console has 8 bit sound output which produces digital artifacts called "aliasing".
That's how the album got its name.

Used:
Electroplankton game and KORG DS-10 virtual synthesizer for Nintendo DS.
Also used: Bluesbreaker II, UltraFlanger UF100 and Yerasov CW-2 guitar pedals.
KORG DS-10 was designed to make trance music, that's why I decided to compose NO trance music. :)

1. Can't You Catch That Mouse?
This song can be played live on two Nintendo DS game consoles with two KORG DS-10 cartridges.
This virtual synthesizer can produce only 2 voice polyphony, but I need 5 voices for this tune...
The trick is to use oscillator detune to make chords. Unfortunaly, detune parameter can be changed
only once for every pattern, so every chord needs its own pattern. Even more, every new bass note
with the same chord also needs a personal pattern. So, I made a lot of very short patterns for every
combination of chords and bass notes.
The song starts in C key and should move to F key in the middle, but I wasted all the patterns already. :)

2. Warm Lake
Three DS needed to play it live. Lumiloop creature from Electroplankton game produces pads which I
send to distortion guitar pedal. Hanenbow creature played the background arpeggio. KORG DS-10 is in
charge of the rhythm. The melody was played on the KORG DS-10 virtual keyboard live with stylus.

3. Glory
Played on two consoles. Luminaria from Electroplankton plays background arpeggio, but its tempo is
quite out of main song speed. Because these two speeds can't be co-ordinated, I should fade out
Luminaria in the middle of the song, reset it and start again in the last part. Otherwise the tempo
mistiming spoils the song.

4. Mollusc
Two Nintendo DS should be enough, but the third one can be added to play the organ sound by Lumiloop
creature from Electroplankton game. The bass, drums and melody are played by KORG DS-10. The variety
is reached by muting and fading channels in KORG's mixer, redrawing drum pattern in realtime and
switching patterns... The background pads were played by Sun-Animalcule creature and processed with
distortion and wah-wah guitar pedals. As you may hear, I move the wah-wah pedal to change the pads timbre.

5. Flanger Party
The first song made by me on Nintendo DS. The drums and bass are played by KORGD DS-10 and processed
with flanger guitar pedal. I rotate flanger knobs hard while the song is playing :) The pizzicato notes
are played by tapping the items in Electroplankton's menu. Lumiloop gives the pads, Hanenbow gives the
bells, but these two can be excluded in live session (I made this tune with a multitrack recording)...
The main role in this tune is the singing of my modified voice recorded into DS build-in microphone
(thanks to Volcoice creature).

.sav file for KORG DS-10 is included in the release. You can put it on a flash cartridge (don't forget to
rename it to match with .nds file name) and enjoy the real hardware :) Go to www.thesands.ru to download.
